Family-Friendly MoseleyNext Series Continues at Converse
Converse University’s MoseleyNext micro-series will launch its second season of short, family-friendly concerts on Friday, October 20, 2023, with The Akropolis Reed Quintet, the first reed quintet to grace the Billboard Charts (May 2021).
The hour-long concert begins at 6:30 pm in Daniel Recital Hall in Converse’s Blackman Hall and is preceded by a 5:30 pm reception with wine, beer, and soft drinks for all ticket holders. With its casual setting, earlier start time, and happy hour before the concert, MoseleyNext is the perfect way to kick off the weekend.
Celebrating their 13th year making music with a “collective voice driven by real excitement and a sense of adventure” (The Wire), Akropolis has “taken the chamber music world by storm” (Fanfare). This untamed band of five reed players and entrepreneurs are united by a shared passion: to make music that sparks joy and wonder.
Winner of seven national chamber music prizes including the 2014 Fischoff Gold Medal, Akropolis delivers 120 concerts and educational events each year and has premiered more than 130 works. They are the first ensemble of their kind to grace the stage on noteworthy series like Oneppo at Yale University, Chamber Music San Antonio, Summerwinds Münster, and Flagler Museum in Palm Beach.
The Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series at Converse University features world-renowned musicians in the intimate venue of Daniel Recital Hall. Carlos Moseley was revered for his contributions to music not only in his hometown of Spartanburg but also around the world. Carlos enjoyed a distinguished career as a concert pianist, professor, as president of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Chairman of the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York.
